Have you ever found yourself walking down the street and seen a couple of kids dressed up in clothes you thought could only have been dreamed up in a comic book? It’s call Cosplaying and boy do the kids have fun doing it!
Cosplay, short for “costume play”, is a type of performance art whose participants outfit themselves, with often-elaborate costumes and accessories, as a specific character. Characters are usually sourced in various Japanese and East Asian media, including manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, and fantasy movies.

It sure is fun seeing Korean kids having fun. Despite all the studying they do, they find some time to make costumes and get out to do a little pretending for a few hours a month. For the full set of pictures, go here.
If you are interested in seeing cosplay in person, head on over to comic world, and check dates for their Seoul and Busan shows. The site is in Korean, but it’s easy enough to figure out. The next events will be October 19th in Busan (Bexco), and November 15-16 in Seoul(Setec). The kids you’ll find won’t be the zombies you see on the subway and bus. They are full of energy, excited, and hilarious.
Be cool,
