I would like to take this (belated) opportunity to thank The current President of Korea, Mr Lee Myung Pak, for the ₩240,000 free money tax rebate I received late last month.
The rebate was supposed to help stimulate the economy (and help out in the face of recent rises in the cost of living, especially gas / transport).
As such I felt compelled to go out and spend the rebate rather than tuck it away for a rainy day.
Thus I would like to say thanks to Mr Lee for the new speakers and wireless keyboard for my computer and the Virtua Fighter 5 Limited edition Fighting stick for my PS3.
What did you spend you’re rebate on?

Was this for Korean citizens only? (congrats~)

From what I understand it was for “Tax payers”, seeing as I pay a modicum of tax I was in like Flinn. Employers should have sorted out the paper work on your behalf – I was all like, “Where’s my free money biatches!?” at school and the office ladies were all like “No worries man, we’ve got your back!”
So it was all good.

Mine went straight into savings, just like I bet most of them did.

Mine went directly to the US since it’s getting harder and harder to make my student loan payments with the won in a downward spiral against the dollar…

This was actually one of the first things I read about on koreasparkle. I only got here in August 2008, so I didn’t qualify. Have to pay ROK income tax for at least a year.
But I’m so getting mine in 2009. Noraebang and then a “haircut” for me!

Dunno what i spent it on, didn’t even know i had gotten it until i tracked back in my bank book, but it arrived on the day before my birthday, and i am sure that was deliberate. Thank you, Korea Sparkling.

Ah, that. The office secretary told me I make a little too much to be eligible, so no extra moola for me.
