Sparkledown IV: Day of the Duck

Duck!

Paul Ajosshi here with exciting news of The Hub of Sparkle’s latest meet up – Sunday June 28th is the official date for Sparkledown IV: Day of the Duck.

In Hannam-dong there lies an incredible secret. Deep down in the darkest alley ways behind the Soon Chung Hyang hospital rests a glistening jewel of a restaurant. “The Ginko Tree House” (은행나무집) specializes in roasting ducks in bricks of yellow clay. These beautiful birds are stuffed with seeds, roots, herbs and all sorts of other delights, before being cooked till crispy on the outside and gorgeously tender within. With melt in the mouth incredibly moreish food, this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Seoul.

If you fancy spending a lazy Sunday lunchtime eating some of the most delicious roast duck in Seoul with fellow Sparklers then please contact me at matthewskorea[at]gmail[dot]com or on facebook. The restaurant say that they can seat up to 22-23 people all together, so there’s plenty of room for those of you who’d care to join us. We’ll have to book in advance as well as order the ducks, so please let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to be a part of Sparkledown IV. You can find my review of the restaurant over at FatManSeoul and I promise you’ll leave with a wonderfully fowl taste in your mouth…

Ducks cost 45,000 won each, but will happily feed three people, so it should come to about 15,000 won per head (plus extra for those who want drinks or noodles).

Count Chris and a very cute girlfriend in (Take that, Joy!). May I assume directions will be posted or be meeting somewhere to find this dark alley sort of place?

It’ll probably be easiest to meet at Itaewon station and then walk down together.

Glad you are coming Joy, Chris and respective boy/girlfriends.

This sounds like a great Idea. I’m in. Does this mean I’ll have to rustle up a cute bf by next week? Incentive is a good thing.
